New Venture Theatre is known for aiming to deliver a fresh twist of unique creativity to our patron’s theatrical experience, and this season has been no different. We are proud to announce that we have been the first in our region selected to produce the well known Broadway classic “THE COLOR PURPLE”. Yes! That is correct we are rounding off our 5th season, with this cutting-edge main stage musical about family, friendship, and the lengths of love. “THE COLOR PURPLE” is the musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel, and the popular 1985 Steven Spielberg Film. It is an inspiring family saga that tells the unforgettable story of a woman who, through love, finds the strength to triumph over adversity, and discover her unique voice in the world. Featuring a joyous score of Jazz, Ragtime, Gospel, African music, and Blues, this production was nominated for eleven 2006 Tony Awards, for best musical, best book, and best Original Score.
